How Auctions Work

Updated 03/03/2026

  1. Users must have a valid payment method on account. This can be set in the Account - Payment Methods page.

  2. Your payment method may be authorized for each and every bid you place.

  3. All auctions begin with a length of 1-30 calendar days.

  4. If a bid is placed in the last 5 minutes of an auction, the auction is extended so there is 5 minutes remaining from the time that bid is placed. There is no hard stop time for an auction.

  5. Domains registered outside of Sav require a transfer and have an additional amount added as an auction fee to transfer the domain and extend the domain's lifecycle by 1 year.

  6. Expired Domains require a transfer or renewal and have an additional amount added as an auction fee to renew or transfer the domain and extend the domain's lifecycle by 1 year.

  7. Minimum bid increments are as follows:
    • $0.01-$49.99: $1

    • $50.00-$99.99: $3

    • $100.00-$499.99: $5

    • $500.00-$999.99: $10

    • $1,000.00-$2,499.99: $25

    • $2,500.00-$4,999.99: $50

    • $5,000.00-$9,999.99: $100

    • $10,000.00-$24,999.99: $200

    • $25,000.00-$49,999.99: $500

    • $50,000.00 and up: $1000

  8. Sav will automatically proxy bid on your behalf when a bid greater than the minimum required bid is submitted.

  9. Once the auction is complete, we will immediately attempt to charge the highest bidder’s payment method to complete the auction. If the payment does not go through for any reason, we will add the domain to the highest bidders's cart. If the same bidder is unable to complete the payment within 24 hours, they will be restricted from placing any new bids.

  10. Sav reserves the right to modify these rules at any time for any reason.

  11. Sav reserves the right to take any action it deems necessary to prevent fraud, maintain stability or correct system issues.
